Nature's Time
The waves are rolling towards the shore,
inching closer
and closer.
But still impossible,
to take us back
to where we were before.
The greed, the desire, and the neglect of us
are detrimental.
To ignore the consequences
that burning, industrializing, and littering
do to our planet.
As we fast forward time
towards our home’s destruction.
Ice suddenly becomes water,
trees suddenly become stumps,
and sky blue becomes gray.
The daunting rumble of chainsaws,
the ominous omission of smoke,
and the selfish satisfaction of rancid factories.
Heard, felt, and noticed,
but never changed.
She, Mother Earth, gave us air,
gave us light, clean water,
and beautiful trees that swirl in the winds.
But us,
with malicious glints in our eyes,
we seek more.
Now,
we regret.
In time, we will face her revenge.
No snow for snowmen,
no sand, just water,
and wild lashes of heat.
Inevitable, powerful, frightening.
And caused by our ignorance and carelessness.
The waves are rolling towards the shore,
inching closer
and closer,
until our feet are submerged in the water.

Environmental issues have always been important to me. The Earth is home to all of us, and it should be treated with care and consideration. Our ignorance and neglect towards nature should be mended immediately if we hope to preserve our home, and I strive to become an active part of this work. People and communities should unite and become involved in environmental problems if we want to keep our forests, streets, and waters clean and beautiful.
