The Boy on the Corner
That little boy on the street corner is almost invisible because he hasn't eaten in three days.
He watches another boy scrape his knee,
and his mother to kiss it to make it feel all better.
As he watches,
he remembers his own loving mother.
Not when she was gardening in the yard,
but when she was in a hospital bed with lifeless lips,
and a bald head.
He doesnt remember her running around with him playing tag,
but in a casket of a church.
While his stomach is growling,
he watches the overtowering big lawyers and business men walk past him.
Hearing the spare change jingle in their pockets.
Looking across the street,
he sees families eating at tables.
Stuffing their faces with a greasy burger,
and laughing and giggling.
They only eat half, and throw it away.
The little boy's mouth starts to water,
and runs across the street to the half eaten burger,
in the trash can.
When he gets the burger out of the trash and starts to eat it,
the people around him look in a disgusted way.
They don't see how difficult it is foe him to just live another day,
but only see an animal that might have been a little boy before.
