Our "Relationship"
You were that hail storm in the night
On the day that we called 'Sunny and 75°'
Rolling in at dusk
Headfirst, destroying the small town that is I
You were the warm breeze
On that cold October morning
Tiptoeing out of the house to fetch the mail
I stepped on a sharp rock along the rigid sidewalk
You were also that rock
You were that glowing snowflake
Landing on the tip of my nose as I look up to the silver sky
The smell of fresh snow on the ground causing me to sneeze
Creating the beginning of a long winter sickness
You were also that sickness
You were the April showers
That dampened my hair in the evening
Only to find the dandelions that had just bloomed
Covered my yard in the fluffy white debris of their deaths
You were also that debris
You were the tattoo upon my wrist
The one from the summer of my 17th birthday
Inked in some beautiful calligraphic font
The tattoo resting upon my veins
Painful to receive, but I certainly don’t regret a moment of that pain
I forgot to mention
You were also that pain
