"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."

Look at what surrounds you in a different way.
What if pillows are for catching drool?
What if bracelets are hula-hoops for wrists?
What if different handwriting is different fonts?
Imagine a little.
What if leaves are umbrellas for bugs?
What if squirrels are the housemaids for trees?
What if spider webs are spider hammocks?
Find the humor.
What if hills are mountains that haven’t hit puberty?
What if windows were the first reality television?
What if Halloween is an annual rebellion against dentists?
Think outside of the box.
What if clocks showed lost time?
What if boot prints are for finding your way back?
What if rocks are the earth’s calluses?
Think deeper.
What if scars are memorabilia?
What if pictures are fixed mirrors?
……
What if we are all the pieces on some giant’s train set?

I was on Instagram one day and I saw this funny meme of two hot dog buns and the caption for it was:

"What if toaster ovens are tanning beds for buns?"

This made me laugh, and I decided to try and write a poem filled with thoughts just like that one. At first, it was hard to think of these satiric thoughts. It got easier as I kept writing.
