You are a Sailboat
You are a sailboat
Freely dancing away from us
Your white sail carelessly flies in the wind
You wave from the end of the deck
Acting like you’ll miss us
I watch your wheel being turned
In so many directions
And I wonder how long it will be until
You land where you need
Somewhere far from here
You are a cruise ship
Leaving our hearts heavy
Proudly saying farewell
So many new people on your deck now
Probably replacing us
I hear the sound of your horns
Ringing in the air
But not for me
For someone else
Who will appreciate it more
You are him
You are the man who left
The one who turned your back
Who acted like you cared
And who fooled us into believing you
I’m sorry I acted like I was upset
I wasted my tears on you
It was all make-believe
Everything was fake
Except your sailboat
