Invisible
He sat alone in an invisible room,
With invisible friends,
Who told invisible lies.
He was invisible.
They were invisible.
The friends are gone,
But he remains,
Trapped, bound to the room
Never to see or hear any good again.
This tortured him,
Scared him,
Confused him,
Angered him.
No one cared.
The outside had colors,
Music and joy.
None of these had been
Exposed to this boy.
Deep in his invisible heart,
He felt invisible feelings.
What the feelings were,
He did not know.
He did not care.
If no one else cared about him,
Why should he care about himself.
He was nothing.
He was invisible.
No one noticed,
No one cared.
Then there were colors,
red , gray, black.
Still no joy.
He felt invisible pain,
The only feeling he knew,
The only feeling he recognized.
Everything stopped.
Black
No more invisible pain, no more invisible room.
No more invisible boy.

This poem was inspired by a a nightmare I had, in which I was invisible.
