Surprises
The river.
Charming, peaceful, melodic,
Numbing, relaxing.
Smooth as glass.
Until the girl came.
Singing, carefree,
like a bird chirping in the early morning.
She drank unsuspectingly,
disturbing the river’s charm.
But the river was unfazed,
for the moment.
The girl soon came back,
and she drank again,
calm as ever.
The river then became threatened.
The river also knew it had a trick up it’s sleeve.
The girl came back, reliant on the river,
but was surprised to find a river that was
running wild, churning and raging,
showing off it’s true form.
She decided she had to risk it.
She stayed confident,
cautiously leaning over the edge of the river,
but the river was too much for her.
It pulled her in, and swallowed her whole, like she wasn’t even there.
The river.
Charming, peaceful, melodic,
Numbing, relaxing.
Maybe not.
