This Moment
This Moment
Darkness that comes from closed eyes
This is where I dream the loudest
Steam encasing the bathroom mirror
The warmth envelopes my body
Music as a setting to the water falling around me
These are the songs that drive and inspire me
Water striking and traveling off my body
The way my senses prickle
Prickles from the water hitting my body and stimulating my nerves
Filling me with life
Thick wet air flowing over and beside me
A feeling I only notice here
I reflect on all the things I’ve done
All the things that have happened to me
Mostly good,
Good because they’re inspired by this time and place
I think of the times with my brother, my grandparents
I remember the time spent in Turkey with my Dede
The times at my camp spent with cousins and family
The holidays at my grandmother’s house with my whole family
The trips to New York and Florida with my mother
All these times they are my favorite moments
The best memories
I dream here
Here in my haven
Here in my safe place where everything is good and nothing is wrong
This is my moment.
My instant of peace and silent,
My importance, importance of anything and everything
This present of all things and nothing
This is my moment…

I wrote this poem about my happiest moment, when I'm in the shower. It's supposed to make other people start thinking about their happiest moment and where they can go if something is wrong. Sort of like their own little haven. I wanted people to feel my happiness and have that make them think about their happiest moment.
