Where I’m From

I am from my blanky,
from the scent of tide laundry detergent
I am from the towering evergreens
In the forest behind my house,
From the pine needles that poke me when I touch them,
I am from monumental family trips,
And craziness,from mom, and dad, and the Goodman family,
I am from my parents asking if I have homework over and over every single day,
And having conversations about my future, and my dreams,
From sharing is caring, and please clean up your room,
I am from Exeter Hospital,from mom’s apple pie, and grandma’s yorkshire pudding, on thanksgiving day,
I am from protection, love
