My trust is the worn
silver locket chained
around your thin
soft brown neck with
rusted and tarnished
olden bits falling away
to your bare toes
as you tread a path
criss-crossed with jeep tracks.


The dulling crumbs
melt into the moistened
patterned dirt road.
