Just meant to be a vacation
A break from home
Not anything more than that
A long trip there, a long trip back
But something about it made us want to stay
Somewhere we would call paradise
Somewhere my family would bond over the
Swaying palm trees and the tumbling waves
Somewhere the soft sand would get
Caught between our toes
Wake up to the sunrise over the dark blue sea
Splash at the pool all year round
Be able to wear a sandals and sunglasses
Blocking the shining sun saying good morning
Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring, nothing would change
The sun beaming down on us through the windows
Nothing but that, but instead
Instead
We have to live where the summers get humid
The winters get freezing
And the only things tumbling are the tumbleweeds
No sand, just grass
No beach, just ponds
Just chatting about how horrible the weather is
Not how nice the weather is or how beautiful the waves are
Not Hawaii
Just Kansas that is it

My trip to Hawaii was what inspired me to write this poem.  I hope people will get that different places have different envirements.
