Fly Away

In a place and time so utterly dull

I dream of another world more lively

With a flicker of eyes I fly away

To wonders that feel like home

Next to the Nile are the ruins of ancients

Illuminating lights guide to the present

Soaring above sand dunes and dust

Into miles of calm blue and fresh air

From serenely sleepy villages

Into bustling metropolises

Nations prideful of their glory

States undergoing hardships

One day I'll be free to experience

Through dreams I'll let myself believe

This was inspired by my childhood dreams in Southeast Asia. I was bored of living in my hometown and wished for more. I wanted to fly away and travel to many different parts of the world. I owned a picture atlas at the time, which in a way, was my "ticket to the world." I would read and look through the pages and just dream of far away countries. While that dream sort of died down for a couple of years, I've recently found my old, adventurous spirit again. Now that I'm older I have a better understanding of the world and have an even greater appreciation for it. I hope peple will be inspired to never limit themselves when it comes to dreams. Dream as big as you wish to. Passion and aspirations are what keep this world going.
