You Won't Believe
You won’t believe the things that slip out between the lips of your fellow neighbors
The color of your skin disgustedly spat out their mouths
Protested against for who you love or what you believe in
You won’t believe the horrors across the pond
Motherless children
Blood on the battlefield
Watching as the color of your comrade’s eyes fade to grey
You won’t believe the reasons one is sent to their early grave
You won’t believe the guilt the majority of the guilty feel?
None
You won’t believe what’s happening on the streets day and night
See for yourselves!
Scrawny figures begging for a dime,
Racooning through your garbage,
And the fight to stay warm
You won’t believe how many people are found hanging from their ceilings
Or unconscious next to an empty bottle of pills
Their arms slashed as wide as it can get
You won’t believe the number of people itching for a cigarette
Or a sip of alcohol,
To puncture their skin with a needle,
Or trip on LSD
You won’t believe how many stories of abuse
Whether it be sexually, physically, or even emotionally?
Go untold!
Their attackers running free on streets,
Perhaps in your very own neighborhood
You won’t believe the extreme lengths someone will go to for another buck in their wallet
Another buck that has been ripped away from the ones who need it
You won’t believe the daily lives of people who can’t drink the water from their own sink
And have to bathe with a water bottle
The ones who grew ill from lead poisoning because no one of authority
Alerted these citizens of the contaminated water until it was too late
You won’t believe the world we live in
You won’t believe what it looks like beyond your perspective
You won’t believe what everyone is doing to save the corrupted planet we live on?
Nothing!

The horrible news that is broadcasted on the news every single day, the gruesome storeis shared by many, and the world itself is what inspired me to write this litany poem.
