It stood behind a lavender haze

In the midst of a glittering maze

Its radiance transfixing all who stared

Through the velvet sea of the violet air

It glowed, barely giving off light

In the azure coated night

Its luminescence faint, yet fair

In the velvet sea of the violet air

It was an eerie prescense in the sky

As it floated up on nigh

In its dark and dismal lair

In the velvet sea of the violet air

Like something from the stories told

Spun from stardust and glittering gold

A shining orb in its foggy snare

In the velvet sea of the violet air

I was inspired to write this poem when I looked up at the moon one foggy night. I hope that my writing gives the reader some type of mental picture of the moon that night, because it was an incredible sight for me.
