Adventure Awaits
The Grand Canyon
is not just a hole in the
ground its purposeful.
A treacherous start down
the steep natural made stairs.
As the colorful canyon caused me concern
Every small pain was a step closer to the end.
As I tread on the ground,
I could hear it whisper to me;
“You're going to die down here”.
Within my quest
I felt depressed and
Restless.
While the clouds gathered into darkness
They would release a monsoon of rain.
When reaching the bottom I discovered,
The river
That eroded this canyon to what it was today,
Yesterday, and
Tomorrow.
Climbing up the last
set of rocks was mercy full.
And as we emerged on the top,
A relief was lifted off my shoulders
As well as my pack.

This is a free-verse poem about my trip the The Grand Canyon. It rained pretty much every day around 3 o'clock and the feel of pain in my thighs burned constantly. Not until I made it to the top of the Canyon I relized it was an amazing feeling of acomplishment and I was proud of myself and my family for finishing it.
