You'd think that by now
I would have learned to stop
Stop my feelings
When I know they will never
Ever
Ever be returned
This isn't a library
You can't just borrow something
And give it back when you're done
That's not what love is for
It's to take that book off the bookstore shelf
And treasure it...
Spend what you've been saving for that one
Special little book
The cover may as well be soft the moment you touch it
For the roughness
Disappears with a single brush
Of your gentle hands
Oh,
But how I,
The book you checked from the library
Was not the right one for you.
You wanted the most familiar
The most beautiful
I was beaten and torn from my previous “checkers”
I hurt
And yearn
For someone to just
Take me away
To just save me
From everything I've been feeling
Never before has a book wanted to burn
As badly as this
Please give me a chance
I’m sorry I could not compare
To your Miss.
