The Curtains That Caught Fire
I walked hand-in-hand,
My mom by my side.
It was snowing
Although it was still summertime.
The ashes were hot and
white as can be, as
they stormed down from the
sky and settled on me.
We strolled down the block
To the house bound in black.
Many people were outside
beyond the old bicycle rack.
Many people weeped,
And some, they sobbed,
and I could not help
but to pray to god.
The firetrucks still rang
With much alarm.
Although luckily my friends
remained unharmed.
The house burned down to
the very last stone,
so now my friends don’t have
a place to call home
And as The curtains that caught fire
Took a spin through the wind
I realized it was no match at all,
For The house fire wins.
And I stared at the house
My eyes filled with pain,
Wondering if anything would
Ever be the same.
