From the first day I discovered the pond
After my first grade class
Because who doesn’t love quiet
The view, so bright and green
A fence of trees surrounding me
As soon as I saw the fish jumping
I looked around me as if there was a crowd
The words from my seven year old mouth
“Oh boy, that was a big fish
How can he do that!? Isn’t that amazing!?”

Everyday I go to visit
This time I take a pink, butterfly shaped net
You realize happiness doesn't have to be
From someone else
I found who I was just by the endless catches
The endless laughs from animal faces
The endless thoughts that filled my head
There I sat, calm and pure
The perfect luke warm breeze blowing
My young, sweet, and innocent self
Saw what a sunset looked like from start to finish

This is the time I learned to be happy
The time I took to myself
How to figure out problems on my own
How to learn to sing
How to trick the fish
How to be, me.

The quiet moments in the pond
The imagination that runs wild
One's thoughts would overwhelm
But here, it seems impossible
Some can feel the rough grass
Brush against their legs
Others can hear the screech of young
Annoying and delicate birds
The gentle wind, speaking to them
Ever so lightly

You feel more young than ever
You hear a voice that fades
Then you realise
It was you the whole time

I was a kid who didn't have a lot of friends as I grew up, got bullied, and so I had to learn to be happy on my own. It's about taking in the natural beauty of everything and letting life take you by the hand.
