USA fans piled into the metro at Bonaventure
only standing room available
touching the Nike dri fit jerseys
With sweaty palms
Chanting
USA! USA! USA!
The metro smelled of sweaty
but optimistic USA fans.
Red, white, and blue
Filled the silver metro with seat cushions
that felt like cardboard.

As the metro pulled up to the Olympic Stadium
4141 Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin, Montréal, QC
the decibel level rose like standing front row at a rock concert,
yet we just stepped off the metro.
Metro station attached to the stadium
The ticket lines under the stadium packed full from wall to wall,
at least 30,000 fans.
We slowly crept towards the metal detectors.

As we entered the stadium
the wave of heat hit us
as a sea of 51,000 red, white, and blue fans
Belt
USA! USA! USA!
We find our seats
Touching the cold steel with sweaty palms
gave a cool chill through our bodies.
The thunderous crowd of ecstatic US Outlaws,
a mix of Captain America suits, jerseys, scarfs, flags,
and most importantly red, white, and blue
jumped to their feet as Carli Lloyd buried a pk
Side netting
1-0 USA over the opposing Germany squad.

15 minutes later Carli Lloyd
Slots the ball hip height back to the six yard box
where an avid, streaking Kelley O’Hara
struck her foot out.
As the ball sailed into the net
Kelley O’Hara looked to be imitating a judo master.
2-0 USA
The fans go nuts Hugging and high fiving everyone around us!
Everyone presses out of the stadium.
As if they think they can beat the traffic.
We decided to wait in the stadium till we got kicked out
hoping that everyone clears out before we leave.
American women’s soccer fans were proud that day
because of the way they battled.
