Where I am From
I am from an iron,
From Tide and Windex,
I am from the pool in the yard,
And the sand in the sandbox,
I am from the bright red roses and the bold sunflowers,
From Christmas at grandma's and from thin, brown, hair,
I am from Mike and Theresa and the Thompson family,
I am from yelling when I get upset,
But helping others when they need help,
From "steeling is wrong" and "the early bird gets the worm,"
I am from the church is holy and God is our Savior,
I am from Flushing, from grilled hamburgers and crunchy fries,
I am from heartattacks and from cancer,
From sorrow and depression
I am from the chest
Celebrating memories
and remembering great times
