Mommy's Just Tired
I am from Imagination. Playing with stuffed animals, and barbies.
I am from Connect Four, Candyland, and Uno.
But just with Daddy, Mom.
You’re at work, or you’re too tired from working. Ill leave you alone, Mom.
I am from Cedar Point trips, and water park visits.
I am from many evenings spent watching a movie, eating pizza on the couch.
Just Dad and I, Mom.
You’re still tired.
But I’ve learned that tiredness, loneliness and depression all mean the same thing and
I’m tired of seeing you so tired, mom.
I’m from air that's so full of bitterness, you can taste it.
It tastes like your booze and your cigarettes, but anything to numb the pain I welcome, because I just want you to be happy, Mom.
I am from nights of hoping that you’ll wake up for dinner-
That you’ll come out of your room with a smile.
I’m sorry that we’re not enough for you, mom.
I wish we could be.
