Where I Am From
I am from
A rickety brick house overflowing with childhood memories,
I am from
Two enormous oak trees and a tire swing,
I am from the sweet sound of the neighborhood kids ringing the doorbell,
I’m from dancing in the rain in my fenced backyard,
I am from art
I am from writing love songs in my hello kitty bedroom
I am from the theatre
I am from impossible dreams and goals that drive me
Never to give up,
I am from travel, travel, travel
I am from the hustle and bustle of airport journeys
I’m from holding my mom’s hand at take off
I’m from the salty smell of the ocean at my toes,
I am from a brother I protect dearly
I’m from a mother
Who takes me to her office on sunday afternoons
I’m from a father who will always be in my corner,
I’m from a life I will cherish
As long as I can,
I am from
A home.
