Shatter
Broken shards of glass litter the floor
Tears streaming from our eyes like small waterfalls
The family picture,
Once chrished
Now deformed,
Destroyed.
We thought it'd never happen.
We were wrong.
His clothes still strewn around the house
His smell still lingers.
His ever-white smile burned in the back of our minds
Was it meant to be this way?
We are as broken as the picture frame...
The one she hurled against the wall.
I'd never be around him.
It'd never be the same
My colorful 9-year-old's world fading to black and white.
I sob
I kick
I scream.
"Please don't go!"
... But that doesn't stop him.
He smiles at me one more time
One of his world-brightening, crooked grins...
Before he gets in that Old Green Ford
Worlds crumbling
Emotions scrambling
Tears rising
Heart pounding
Body shaking
I fall to my knees
And weep
As that Old Green Ford...
The one I grew up in
Dissapears comletely
