Black Heart

A black heart as pure as night,
Bright eyes the color of death.
The stars shine bright but have lost their light,
Your life to say with a final breath.
No mans' land just like home,
Free at last but never more.
Love set out to just roam,
Body and soul left as lore.
Intelligent man stuck in the dark,
All these days to feed the fear.
Dig the grave with the singing of the lark,
Into the mind they will sear.
To hunt in the black,
To fly in the sky.
Your voice you lack,
Reality a lie.
The search for the prey,
The never ending quest.
To feast now they may,
Odds to survive not the best.
A black heart no more,
Dark eyes without life.
Empty to the core,
A sign to those to fear more than a knife.
