The Dancer
She whirled her dress in a flash of color
Lighting the room with her smile
And when she would leave the light grew duller
If only she would smile for awhile
She danced like a streak of lightning
Their heads turned trying to follow her style
Her dancing echoed with the CRASH of drums frightening
If only she would smile for awhile
The flowers seemed to bloom around her feet
As she lightly stepped down the aisle
She only had eyes for the pulsing beat
If only she would smile for awhile
When her dancing feet finally grew still
She gave the boy’s one last taste of her guile
And their eyes followed her and her skill
If only she would smile for awhile
