-I don't know :)

As darkness comes, I see it coming closer.

It is evil, cruel, filled with pride.

I see it, and I tremble.

Oh! Why must it haunt me?

It controls me, and takes over my body.

It tells me I'm not worth life.

It forces me to make regrettable choices.

It bashes and haunts and controls.

Then, as the darkness settles,

I see a light, which overpowers the darkness.

I see a power, which is more powerful then anything.

The light lets me be me.

The light tells me I'm worth more than gold.

The light lets me make regrettable choices and looks past them

I know, because the light told me, everything will be okay.

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece when I was a freshman and I got this published in another magazine. I hope that this poem will help others understand that whatever you may feel insecure about, whatever is making you feel like you're no good, let the light overpower that darkness. I know that there is beauty in everyone. And that beauty, whether it's inside or out, overpowers your insecurities.
