Peter Pan Syndrome
Childhood curiosity, withering like a flower
Growing older and older living in fear like a coward
From fears of monsters and doctors
To fears of abusers and killers
Reality seems dark and twisted as you get older
I tend to dream of my youth-like wonder
I wish I took more naps and made more friends
Now I’m tired all of the time and pray for school to end
The past was so near yet so far away
I can feel my optimism begin to decay
I hope for that childlike wonder once again
But for now I want my sadness to end
