Trump
There is a taint on the canvas of our election
But we gave islamophobia and racism the brush
It started to bleed the red
Swallowing the canvas
So we are now swimming in blood
Not only so Muslims, immigrants, women, and the lgbtq community suffer
But all of us as well
Like our neighbors, our children, and all of us
He has striped me of my rights as a woman
He has given my body to a nation
A nation that says there is no liberation
Just another object
Without the right to speak out about pain
Without the right to speak out about rape
Because I was told it was my fault
“Cover up, head down
Stay voiceless
Stay hidden
Don’t tempt men
If he’s tempted
Let him touch you
It’s your fault for wearing that
He has the right to your body
You can’t say no, you’re a prude
If you say yes you’re a wh**e
Wear that, shave that, men like that”
It is not just this pain that women face
I see my neighbors everyday
My beloved friends
Persecuted for their faith
For their belief
For what they look like
He is pointing fingers at our Muslim neighbors
Who have come into this country
Only bringing diversity and culture
That we should be proud to accept
Proud to learn
I watch the shame they feel
The fear he has pumped into their hearts
Deeming them something they are not
Preaching hypocrisy
As Christianity has been violent
Just as any religion has been violent
Islam is a peaceful faith
By most who keep it peaceful
Innocent souls who are told they are bad people
Just for the faith they should be proud to hold
But this taint on a canvas says they don’t belong
They don’t deserve love and hope
Watching their pain has hurt me
He doesn’t listen to their gentle voices or touch their supple hands
He damages their communities
And scapegoats them
Telling them they are not worthy
Building a wall to keep them out
When they are in need of help
Along with other immigrants
I watch my mom everyday
Proud to be an immigrant
And I proud to be a first generation American
But he has said that is not ok
But this taint on our election says we are not human
We don’t belong in the land of the free
We don’t deserve to be free
We are not humans
We are aliens
I had his supporter call me “immigrant democrat”
A thing that my family carries with pride
But it is thrown to the floor by this taint on a canvas
Telling me I am not worthy to live somewhere
Telling all immigrants we are not worthy to live in our homes
This stigma we face for being proud of our culture, tears us of our pride and our hope
He fills me with fear
For I am also a member of the lgbtq community
I am told what I do is wrong
I am told I will go to hell
A pervert
A sinner
To stop choosing this lifestyle
But it is not my choice
Not a lifestyle
It is who I am
I have been told I am unnatural
When there are queer sheep roaming around free to love
I have been chastised for having a disease I don’t
HIV, Herpes, AIDS
Deemed contagious for loving more than just men
But even I am privileged compared to other members
Turned away from clubs
Not allowed to have fun for what they choose to wear
Turned away from donating blood
Not allowed to help those in need
Turned away from jobs
For choosing to love
Turned away from acceptance
For simply being born the wrong gender
I have watched fellow members slaughtered and killed for the love in their hearts and being who they are
I have heard his supporters
Laughing about Orlando
Saying we don’t deserve to live
Just for the love in our hearts
But he is just a taint on a canvas
We all have voices
To preach the truth to the ignorant
To fight the violence with love and peace
We have the voices to teach acceptance and empathy
For those who are suffering
To love them when they are in need
We have the voices to hold hands with our neighbors
And drain the hatred he has us drowning again
We have the voices to stop this suffering
We have the voices to
paint the canvas white again
