Faded Glory

June 16, 2016
By Anonymous

Lazy summer evenings long shadows,
Painted in soft light before dusk.
The hopeful, lucid light
In all it’s jubilant glory.
Days of bliss turned dull,
Days of laughter turned cold.
Metallic, sharp winter mornings.
Empty streets, cold with wind,
Deep, endless, pitless emptiness,
Monotonous hum of confusion,
Emotions numbed to nothing,
A ceaseless and futile waiting,
With bleak hope for the future,
A dim lightbulb flickering,
at the end of the tunnel.
The struggle is keeping that light in sight
Because once it has vanished so have you.
