Let Me Be Me
You tell me that it’s wrong ,but do you have proof.
Do you have proof that proves to be superior to mine.
Tell me why mine is feeble compared to yours.
Don’t educate me on my wrongs, but your rights.
Who cares I am not one to criticize.
There are few that put forth work and emotion
But they are rewarded.
While the rest sit on their chairs and
pour their feelings into their work , time after time.
Why do they judge us on our experiments in culture.
Shouldn’t they encourage our individualism.
But now we are the same,
taught the same and treated the same.
How can one stand out when nothing is expected of us.
We all are just unidentifiable specks of dust
On the way to one giant corrupt world.
How will I ever succeed if I am not taught to just be me.

My name is Alyssa and I am from manhasset secondary school in Long island, New York. I am a two time gold medalist in synchronized skating and I love to write because it allows me to express my true feelings for something but, also disguising it.
