A rather prolonged protest poem
Be yourself, that's my message, in a world ruled by influence
By celebrities, YouTube, and the media
"Why be intelligent if it's nerdy?"
"Why sing if I could get bullied?"
People waste their potential if it means being different
They mold themselves into stereotypes because it makes them "cool"
The "popular" are hated, the "nerds" are frowned upon
Worried about their image although the image is wrong
Be yourself, that's all I ask, and if you're still not convinced
Would you rather be popular playing someone you're not
Or still be you but eclipsed
Every day I see people
Judging themselves by the thoughts of others
Because if they are different in any way
They find themselves in the gutter
Be yourself, it's really true
Because in some ways, self-confidence is good
And in all ways, you are too.

I hope people will really learn and understand the message of this song. People wear clothes they don't want to wear, post pictures they don't want to post and eat things they don't want to eat because they're afraid it will hurt their reputation, whatever it is. I see people acting stupid even though I know them well and they are very intelligent; they just don't want to come off as "nerds". Accept people for who they are, and most importantly, accept yourself.
