Too young to know
A child will grow
and soon come to know
What is sexuality
Some say it's an oddity
A child will say they are straight or gay
Some say they are to young to know
Who they like or who they can show
affection to
Gay, Bisexual, Pansexual-
Lesbian, Asexual, Queer;
I swear, every time I hear
A child say they are-
one of these, every adult responds:
"You're too young to know"
Why does it matter their age?
You never hear someone say
to their kid who thinks they're straight:
You're too young to know
Most people discover
Who they adore
When they are young
Most kids are questioning
as teens, so why are we so discouraging?
Every person has a right
to stand where they might-
even if no one agrees
just let your ears hear their pleas!
A child might be young,
but they know better than anyone
who they love.

I really just hope that when people read this poem, they will realize the injustices still delt toward all sexualities besides heterosexual. No one ever thinks about how it must be to hear someone say to them that they are too young to know what their sexuality is. It is honestly terrible to sit their and have your parents say to you, "how would you know? You're too young" It just breaks my heart that no one ever does that sort of thing to their kids who realize they are straight, it just doesn't make sense to me.
