Caught Between Two Minds
On one end, he calls out
Quietly, softly, invoking much, too much guilt
And it is much too affecting
“Why are you leaving”
“What did I do”
“What can I do”
But the words just freeze on your lips
Those words were soft and feathery,
And finally like fluff rains like goose down
But there is no substance just a light pillowy mess
No more meaning left
But he has hurt you in the past
With words that cut like a sharpened blade
Struck and sliced until tears fell freely
Pooling at your feet you look and
Stare fiercely at the ground
With no recollection
Nor no understanding
For him in the next minute it is all okay
So, you take a deep breath
Inhale
Exhale
because the worst is over
But the cycle then repeats
You can no longer float on river that has surged from below
The waves crash and brew because a storm has finally arrived
Finally some anger from the skies, sometimes that lightning flashes through your eyes
But you still do not look up
There are two options here
You could drown
Or sail away, far away
Where no one
Not even he
Can find
