You reflect me,
I love that about you

You lay next to me in the call of the morning
And I look at you as the sun steadily rises to the deep blue of the sky up above
Up above where the stars sleep and awake in their morning

Our morning, though, is down here
In the white of the sheets
The comfort of our home

You yawn and stretch, waiting until you fall out of your sleep
Your dreamland
That dreamland where you chased the moon last night

You open your eyes of treasure,
And I see your world
I see what you seek of your day
Your desire, your aspiration for life

My great desire
To chase the moon and sun, when I’m with you
You have always wanted to run after the colors in the sky that drip from the crescent in the moon and the edge of the bleeding sun

Your desire
My desire
Your desire is my desire

Your vivacity awakens me
Makes me grow like the fresh grass shooting up outside
You open your eyes
Your blue eyes of ocean blue

The ocean blue that you can see your feet right through
The ocean blue that the fish scales shine through
Reflecting the light from the sun under the clear ocean blue
Reflecting the light

You, are my light
My morning sun
And my morning fresh air

Soon, the sun will be gliding above this room,
where we lay
In the white of the sheets
Calling us to get up and run into the day

But first before we get up,
You look at me
And see a mirror

A mirror of the perfect reflection
Perfect may be perfect, but perfect is flawed

As you look out the window in the bedroom, you see a reflection of the dirt road outside
The road mimics itself in the glass of the window, making it twice as long

The mirrored image of the road from outside seemed to go on forever
To infinity
An infinity you only saw as two paths reflecting and longing in the opposite direction
Trailing further apart
An infinity I saw as our everlasting love

You were my mirror
The reflection of my love
But to you I was just the reflection of the road

I move close to you

And I say holding my face close to yours
“You reflect me, and I love that about you.”
While you turn your head and look out the window of beaming light,
You see the dirt road that you only long to run down, away from the chasing reflection of infinity.

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write a piece that expressed a common feeling in today's world amongst those who love. I wanted to write something someone could connect to and feel inspired by. I enjoy writing my mind and describing love in a unique way. I wanted to write about the idealisitic views of love while still incoorperating the reality of relationships.
