Understanding Goodbye
Saying you understand goodbye is like saying you know what's at the end of the rainbow
The end of the rainbow is a figure of speech, there is no real end
The word goodbye is as well
Goodbye is defined as being used to "express good wishes when parting at the end of a conversation"
Or at least that’s what Google told me
Goodbye is a concept, it is a notion
To believe that some goodbyes are forever is like believing in the boogie man as a child
People told you he wasn't real,
Or your parents would pretend to scare him out of your room at night
But In the back of your mind he was always there haunting you
People will tell you some goodbyes are not forever, or maybe they tell you they are
But in reality, the person still thinks about the other
Always having them in the back of their mind
Leaving the term goodbye, to be more open ended
Goodbye can be considered a wonderful thing
But most of the time, goodbye proves to be heartless
Saying goodbye to a fantastic year and moving on to the next is great!
Saying goodbye to your father who is on his death bed however is not
A husband leaving their wife for another woman, walking out the door while saying goodbye to his old life is not so great either
Goodbye is an open book
A painting that looks different from all sides
There is no real definition to it
Each wave of a hand while saying the term is interpreted many ways
You define it for yourself
Not someone else
With that I say so long
Because goodbye is so easily misunderstood
