Made an outcast and pushed to being homeschooled in the sixth grade
Looked down upon by people who never even knew her name
She is the definition of a survivor
From the verbal abuse from kids at school
To the physical abuse from her father at home
Cast out; Forced to be alone
Bruises made daily compared to the cuts made every second
Laughed at for her hair colored pink; Just cause her mother had breast cancer she decided to support it
They never understood why she did things the way she did
She was a soldier of her own kind
Fighting for herself, her family, and her friends when others wouldn't
Overwhelmed with the abuse of everything around her
Fifteen years of so much shame
Ended by her own hand when everything seemed to be the same
Yet in death she found fame
Inspiration swelled in my heart as I remember the change she made
In me...

This piece is about a good friend of mine who took her own life due to all the abuse and neglect that overwhelmed her. To this day I never forget all that she has done. She truly is an inspiration to me.
