Folding chairs creaking around the table as adults throw down cards triumphantly
Children’s nimble thumbs furiously mashing N64 controllers
Fresh wads of bills, encased in red embroidered envelopes,
Discreetly passed from parents to children of other parents
Carrying all their blessings within.
Adults and children alike,
Fresh-faced and flushed red with anticipation
Gathered around the brightly lit screen
As confetti and fire-red dragon costumes race across the screen.
