Broken Column II
I draw through my pain.
-- Can you feel it?
Firmly stroking the canvas, visualizing my aches and pains with colors and techniques.
-- Touch me?
Caress my skin with your bare hands,
Over my pure flesh of hardship and agony.
-- Be Gentle.
Look at my teary eyes and perky breast and love me through your infidelity.
Undress me with your eyes and remember me as I once was.
-- Fix me.
I am strong willed and beautiful as my father pictured me to be.
-- Diego
Love me with the passion you have for your arts and politics.
Sincerely,
Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is a woman of fierce intellect and passion. Her paintngs come from stories and experiences that she has overcome or battled throughout her life. Broken Column is one of my favorite self- portraits of Frida because of the emotion behind the painting is almost as you can feel the pain through the layers and the textures within the painting. Frida has gone through miscarriages, infidelity, and multiple surgeries and accidents that affected her body and played a constant role through her visual piece.Although, she faced many hardships her stance against equality and feminism allowed her to becomea huge role in the arts and politics.
