How can I trust another

As I trusted you?

Your eyes twinkled,

Literal turquoise stones.

When you gazed upon

My grey puddle eyes

My stringy mess of hair

My whole being.

How can I trust another

As I trusted you?

You left.

Your turquoise eyes

Never ever

Shined bright.

You turned hateful,

Zombie of a man.

Your aura,

Your cloud,

So red.

So spiteful.

The last piece

Of your puzzle

Smashed.

Jammed.

Forced.

Into place.

You became the rest of the world.

right before my eyes.

My caring

Thoughtful

Loving

Compassionate

Man left me.

I was left with unanswered questions

They still ring in my ears

Like ghosts of church bells

That could have been.

You did not dumb me.

You trampled me.

Stampeded me.

Branded me as yours.

Sent me to the slaughter house

Without a second thought.

It was then,

That my puzzle

Was forever incomplete.

Better trust only the cynical, nude smile in your mirror than the boring pitty heart and mind that hides beyond those lies.
