the old man
happy as could be
everyday sits with the dog
offers bread to the pigeons
listens to the busy world around him
dreams of the places he never traveled
making friends with everyone that passes by
and smiles to strangers
no longer sits on the bench
the dog
hoping he’ll hear the sound of his cane
every day he sits on the bench
drooping eyes and thinks
of the old man who’s now
gone.
