What to Write?
What to Write, What to Write?
Ideas race through my head,
But vanish before I can catch them.
Like clouds swiftly blown away,
Like water slipping through my fingers.
Bang, clatter, wham, crash, pow.
Siblings do not help my concentration.
Chugga-chugga, choo-choo
There goes my train of thought.
The train rolls into the abyss of my mind.
Darkness slowly overtakes my brain.
Its arms snatch anything it can reach,
It devours any coherent thought.
I wish for the happy days of preschool,
When my imagination was fresh and clear.
Before school became a nightmare
And my thoughts turned so drear.
Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reviews,
Choices only make it harder to choose.
Horror, romance, adventure, thriller,
Indecision is my grade killer!
A report to acknowledge animals in Africa,
A poem of weeping willows whipped by wind,
Or a sad story of strong Samson.
One by one, each suggestion is rejected.
English class is almost finished
The clock seems to tick faster with every second.
My only confidence is now diminished
I scramble for words to throw on the page.
