The Sight of Addiction
The Sight of Addiction
A horrifying experience to endure,
whether the abuser or the viewer,
the sight of a the downfall that is addiction
is both tragic and astonishing,
To watch a movie through the eyes of your own emotions,
a broken screen
shattered by the depths of broken trust,
the most horrid show yet somehow it continues to produce episodes
the next more gut-wrenching than the last
To watch continuously
is to stare at the scorching sun
blinded by the hurt forever
never being able to trust the words of an addict
the words that come as colors
each color produced darker than the last,
dark to match the shame streaming across their face as they lie repeatedly,
To watch the downfall of an addict
is to watch your own set of twin towers collapse,
attacked by the strength of drugs
the death of thousands,
memories,
their former self,
an attack that will stick forever,
a memorial placed in my heart,
for I will forever remember all that was seen,
all that was lost,
The screen finally shattered beyond repair
and all is lost to the worst sight that can be seen,
the sight of addiction

Addiction is something close to me, so I put my feelings into this poem.
