Reaching Your Peak
You grab your old tennis shoes,
put them on tightly,
something that can withstand anything.
You head out the door
taking nothing with you,
only your character and perseverance.
As you walk to your starting point
you find any reason to turn back.
They say you'll never mountain anything
as you face the rocky mountain in your life.
They say ignorance is bliss
but is it truly blissful to be ignorant
to what's in front of you?
The question toils in your mind
as you take that first climb.
Struggling to avoid the rocky edges and blisters
on your feet, the cuts on your hands,
and the scars in your heart.
You let that energy continue to push you up,
seeing the sun, the scars slowly healing.
You're almost there. Almost to your peak.

I wrote this poem for anyone who's going through something and needs just a little encouragement to get through the day.
