Needs of a Summer

Plastic straps of chair seats sticking to bare thighs.
Hair drying stiff with chlorine.
Chewing the ends of popsicle sticks until the wood fibers fray.
Lying on warm, damp grass and arms draped over eyes, lazily murmuring.
Tracing hearts in the mist on water bottles.
Bare feet on dusty paths, the soles covered in sand.
Blisters on damp hands from the river boat handles.
Feeling the residual heat from sun-drenched skin in the relative cool of evening.
