the looking glass
The girl behind the looking glass
The girl behind the looking glass
She has fallen through the the solid mirror
Into a world that looked beautiful
Filled with bright colors, and people who treated her like a princess
She was happy there
The longer she stayed, the more she realized the wonderful world beyond the looking glass
is not what it was when she first entered
The grass went from a bright green, to a burnt yellow
The trees went from having beautiful pink and red flowers to having dying brown leaves
The men and women who treated her like a princess now treat her like a piece of trash on the side of the road
They have moved on to the next girl or guy who has entered the looking glass land
The sky has become a grey color
She has tried to leave, but she was lost without the looking glass land
There is no escaping
The glamorous world behind the looking glass has been broken, and she can never be repaired
The world around her starts to melt
Things start dying
The looking glass land becomes black and white
Everything goes dark.
The Breaking Looking Glass
I was looking for her
But I couldn't find her anywhere
She was gone
My princess was gone
But I did find the looking glass
It was dirty looking
Like it was passed around, like an old bike bought at yard sales
Thrown away countless times
The frame was broken
The paint on the frame was chipped
Why would anyone want such an ugly mirror?
Looking at the the glass, I saw cracks
The mirror was slowly cracking, falling apart in my hands like a loose ball of yarn.
My world started to change around me
The grass went from a bright green color to a burnt yellow
Her favorite tree went from having beautiful pink and red flowers to having dying brown leaves
My sky had become gray
Days go by, she is still missing
The mirror was broken
Shattered on the floor
Pieces scattered on the living room floor like the clothes on her bedroom floor
And I got a call
I was looking for her
I couldn't find her anywhere
She was gone
She is gone.
The Time Before the Looking Glass
The wife and the husband were the happiest couple most people knew
They never fought
They always looked like they were in love
Their beautiful daughter was born
The wife wanted to call her princess
But they settled on Jack
Their house was magnificent
Acres of trees with pink and red flowers
They loved that house
Years went by and the parents become more distant, like branches off a tree
The girl didn’t see her dad as much
He was always going out
Her mom just smiled, and gave him a kiss
He gave his princess a kiss on the top of her head and left
He said they were business trips
But the girl saw her dad in town sometimes
Her and her mom’s favorite thing to do together was water the trees with the pink and red flowers
She was happy
More time goes by and the girl and her mother haven't seen the father in two months
The girl sometimes hears her mother cry at night
The house has a for sale sign in the front
The girl has no friends, outside or inside of school
Still, the girl and her mother's favorite thing to do together was water the trees with pink and red flowers
Yet, the girl is still somehow, happy
The trees are losing their petals and it’s getting cold outside
There is no furniture left in the house, only filled boxes that neither her mother nor her can even lift up, heavy like a hundred pound weight crushing their arms
Her mother brings men home almost every night
They don't treat her, or her mom well
Jack is being bullied at school
She doesn’t really understand, but it does make her feel bad
The moving trucks finally come
And they say their last goodbyes
They get into their car and they leave
Jack's first day of middle school
New district
New people
New house
New life
And she is feeling good
The house is covered in bottles and her mom is passed out on the couch
Jack gives her a kiss on the cheek and leaves for the bus
Her mom and a strange man comes through the door
They are both extremely drunk
But he stays the night
And makes breakfast for everyone in the morning
You can see that he made her mother happy
The man has been at the house now for a couple of months
And he pops the question to her mom
She says yes
They officially move in together
That’s when things take a turn, like a
One day he came home extremely drunk
A plate drops and shatters
She has never seen someone get so mad
He raises his fist and hits her mother
He apologizes right after
Her mother was still with the man that beat her
Jack just looks out to the tree with the pink and red flowers
It’s Jack’s first day of high school
She walks up to the school and sees some people, who are drunk
Staring at a looking glass
