Leaving
It was like
waking up in the morning,
hearing your alarm clock scream,
while still having the taste
of this dream
linger around in your mind.
A dream worth its name.
It was like
just laying in your bed
feeling as empty as sad
because the knowledge
that a dream is only that
weighs heavier than stone
and its presses you down
into a place you’ve never been
It was like
hearing Morpheus’s voice
creep up in your head
explaining to you in every detail
what you will never have
because his reality is superior
and all you have of it
is a foggy memory of a face
and the vague feeling of a touch
by fingers
that never existed.
That was how leaving you felt like.
