Lies and Truths
Lies can hurt,
Especially when you blurt
them out in a conversation
that you have with the rest of your “nation”.
________________________________________________
But, sometimes, the truth,
it hurts more than lies,
because instead of having the receiver be a sleuth,
you say it right into their eyes.
________________________________________________
People may view that as
a good deed
but, if we have the English topaz,
then, why will it lead
________________________________________________
into a sense of dread,
or, if you’ve really goofed up,
make you wanna go to your bed,
curl up,
and pretend to be dead.
________________________________________________
I really do wonder
if it is possible
to blunder
through life’s maze,
________________________________________________
its twists and turns
and clouded in a haze,
with a set goal,
to be truthful.
________________________________________________
To have a white soul,
in the short time
that you and I
have to play in this world.
