The Fairy and Elf
Her eyes were as green as emeralds
Her hair as red as the rose she sat upon
A light breeze caressed her insect-like wings
An elf clothed in black appeared before her
He had upon his head a feathered cap
His eyes were as black as black as the quickly approaching night
He gazed at her lovingly
She turned her pretty head towards him with a smile that could have lit up the dark sky
He held out his hand as the red moon rose overhead
The crickets began their song as she flew down to him
She dropped into his arms as he had many times before
They danced in the field of flowers and lay in the field of flowers looking up at the red moon
Their forbidden love, a love taboo since the beginning of time
The first meeting between their kinds went oh so fine
It ended in bloodshed and betrayal, the first love between their kinds
Other lovers like them had shared the same fate causing tragic, bloody wars
As these lovers gazed at the crimson moon they thought of neither the bloody past or approaching future
They cherished the nights they spent together under the full, red moon taking not one moment for granted
They knew the odds were against them; almost nothing could change the cruel fate that had destroyed
many lovers like them
But, unlike the others they would not lose hope
They’d keep on believing their love would be for forever under the crimson red moon
