My Dear Icarus
You were Icarus and I was the Sun
because of that everything we were is done
Just like his father I tried to warn you to run
I told you not to get too close
I always hurt the ones I love most
Still we kept flirting and I became engrossed
A few months later and I couldn't let you go
And that's when the trouble arose
All the bad blood became exposed
Just like the story we both got carried away
Off the course we both strayed
And I became afraid
So I pushed you away
But it was already far too late
Your wings melted off and you began to fall
This is why I always put up a wall
But you didn't acknowledge it at all
I feel your hand slipping through mine
Regretting every decision that led us to this moment in time
I watched you fall into the sea
And most importantly away from me
I once thought we were meant to be
But it seems fate didn't agree

I write all my poems from the heart and the same is true for this one. I hope readers can feel the emotions that I felt.
