Hearing the birds chirp knowing it,
was going to be a good day.
Summer nights were the best.
Days where i played in the yard
Hearing my granny yell
“Come clean yourself up- food ready”
While my mama rested with my
Baby sister by her side
Chasing butterflies and lightning
Bugs.
Going to the beach and playing
With sand
With a little girl, who turned out to be my best friend
Playing jump rope with two other girls turning the rope
While i jump in,
As people in cars beeped their horns
Yelling “Get out the streets”.
